Women's Tennis Sweeps Willamette On Senior Day

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark Pioneers women's tennis team handled business with a 9-0 win on Senior Day over the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday at the L&C Tennis Dome.

Seniors Maca Vives and Rachael Rice came back from a 5-2 deficit to beat the Bearcats top pair on court one and also help close out doubles competition for the Pioneers with a 3-0 advantage.

Pacific Hands Men's Tennis First Conference Loss

PORTLAND, Ore.—The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team's hot streak was extinguished by the Pacific University Boxers on Sunday, as Pacific defeated the Pioneers 9-0 at the L&C Tennis Dome.

"Overall it was a good learning experience as the team heads into a couple weekends of break before their next match," assistant tennis coach Phalkun Mam said.

Women's Tennis Blanks Pacific Lutheran In NWC Action

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College finished their second day of conference play with a 9-0 sweep of Pacific Lutheran University Lutes at L&C Tennis Dome on Sunday afternoon.

This is the Pioneers sixth straight home win and first sweep of the season.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark Pioneers hosted the Puget Sound Loggers Friday night at Pamplin Sports Center, winning 72-68 in overtime. The Pioneers took the lead in the final minute of play, but the game went into overtime after Puget Sound tied the score with six seconds left on the clock. In their previous match-up with the Loggers, Lewis & Clark lost 72-71. This is their second consecutive conference win.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark Pioneers found their momentum against the George Fox Bruins on Tuesday night at Pamplin Sports Center, winning 82-59. After trading back and forth through the first half, the Pioneers pulled ahead early in the second and never relinquished the lead. HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii’s own Heimana Reynolds and Jordyn Barratt are on their way to the Tokyo Olympics to represent Team USA in the park skateboarding competitions.

On Wednesday, Reynolds and Barratt posted pictures on their social media accounts, showing them inside the cockpit of their airplane before taking off from San Francisco Airport.

Reynolds, 22, has been competing professionally since he was 15 years-old., being selected to compete in the 2017 X Games in Minneapolis, MN.

Hawaii’s Tri Bourne, Jake Gibb sweep Switzerland in match two of Olympic beach volleyball pool play

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii native Tri Bourne and Utah’s Jake Gibb swept Switzerland’s Adrian Heidrich and Mirco Gerson in the second round of beach volleyball pool play.

This is the first Olympic games for Tri Bourne and fourth for partner Gibb.

This is only the second match that Bourne and Gibb have played together and are currently undefeated.

Unfortunately, Gibb’s former partner, Taylor Crabb had to withdraw from competition after testing for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

Kahuku’s Kekaula Kaniho named to Jim Thorpe Award watch list

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kekaula Kaniho, a Kahuku alum and current Boise State defensive back, has been named to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list.

Kaniho is among 40 other college football defensive backs that have been included on the list from 10 conferences.

The Paycom Jim Thorpe Award is given to the top defensive back in college football.

University of Hawaii standout Cortez Davis selected for Jim Thorpe Award watch list

‘Iolani’s Hugh Hogland and Japan basketball fall to Spain, 88-77 to open Olympic pool play

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Spain defeats Japan’s men’s basketball team, 88-77 in the opening round of Olmpic pool play Monday morning.

On team Japan is ‘Iolani graduate Hugh Hogland, however the former Raider did not play in the opening match.

Spain held a comfortable double digit lead by pushing the pace throughout the second half of the game against Japan.

Soriano recieves his first MMA career loss against Brendan Allen at UFC on ESPN 27 in Las Vegas at the Apex.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii’s own John John Florence and Carissa Moore made their Olympic surfing debut on Saturday in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Florence completed in heat four of the first round of the men’s shortboard competition.

He finished the heat with a 8.37 in his Olympic debut.

Florence competed fiercely, but came in third place behind Ramzi Boukhiam from Morocco (10.23) and Owen Wright from Australia who took first place with a score of 10.40.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii women’s indoor and beach volleyball teams received academic honors this week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
